I thought mentioning this as people have asked me about keeping my grill clean. I have tried different methods and found that after a day of grilling keeping a oil coat (I use olive oil or pam spray) on the grill once it has cooled down makes it easier to brush clean the next time I use it. Before each use I heat my grill and use fat back or beef fat and wipe the grill clean. The grate looks like new and will knock off anything that is on the grill. I then use a water pray bottle and old towel to wipe it off, reheat the grill and get to Que'ing. Hope this will help anyone with questions on cleanig grill tops. I would like to hear of any other ideas as well. Thanks!

Kevin, Some stores won't even sell it but if you become a regular at a butcher shop or even a store they will oftem give it to you from the trimmings. Gotta ask them to set aside a few lbs when trimming though. My grill is an 8 footer so I need about 7 - 10 lbs of fat to really clean up. Try a bacon slab that works well too. Good luck buddy!

Slacker that I am, I use dollar store oven cleaner and spray the grate down, let them sit for a while and brush/hose down the grate. I give it a good coating of peanut oil and that seems to work well. I like your idea , just fat back gets pricey here in uber health fanitical SF Bay area.
