Joe, try www.homebbq.com. His beef rub is perfect for your brisket! Couple of hints if ya don't mind....Next time, rub the brisket with Olive oil then apply the rub liberally....Hold cold for minimum of 8 hours prior to cook and reapply rub…

I have recently been thinking about getting into BBQ contests. I would like to start with local events in my area if possible. I live just outside Joplin MO. If anyone knows of any upcoming events open to any one that would be great. I have been told, by more than a few, that I really need to do this, so what the heck, why not.

There's a big event called the Kansas city royal out there during the summer...that is one of the biggest events of the year for BBQing. There's judges and awards, magazines and TV coverage. Look on line for details times and location of this years event.
