I have recently been thinking about getting into BBQ contests. I would like to start with local events in my area if possible. I live just outside Joplin MO. There's a big event called the Kansas city royal out there during the summer...that is one of the biggest events of the year for BBQing. There's judges and awards, magazines and TV coverage. Look on line for details times and location of this years event.
