No Beans. International Chili Society prohibits them from competition chili
I use chili beans and black beans in mine but i would not call myself an expert by any means. I also put in yellow squash, mushrooms, and asparagus. Really brings a lot of color and flavor to the chilli. I made my recipe one day without really knowing how to make chilli and it turned out excellent. The girlfriend loves it and she really had her doubts as i was making it. If anyone has any other veggies that would be good to add i am always up for trying new things.
Thats what I was looking for a competition chili purist. I need a good recipe to get me started in chili cook offs.
Got one to share?

Heya Dale:
I prefer my chili w/o beans. they don 't make em unledded if you know what I mean. Yet, I have had some great chili both ways. I think it's a matter of preference. What you and your friends like. Do em w or w/o. Lots of great recipes for both ou there.
i use beans, might as well throw some more fiber in that pot
did u come across a good recipe yet

Nobody has posted one here . I was hoping to get someone that has scored well at a competition to spill the beans
If you know what I mean. Give me some secrets! No takers yet
Using beans in Chili is an option. If you are having friends over for dinner or lunch it is ok, and most people probably expect beans in their Chili. However, if you are going to compete in a serious Chili cook off, beans are grounds for disqualification. No beans in Competition Chili.

Dale for several good purist recipes go to the International Chili society website. Good luck!
