I have always grilled them first. I have had them both ways. I honestly have never had a bad Bratwurst.

Must be Schmidts, Johnsnville, or Krogers brand Beer brats grilled to gold then soaked in a vat of warm beer, onion and garlic until served.
I like browning my brats to a golden brown and then putting them in a beer bath of beer,diced peppers,diced onions,saurkraut, and a stick of butter.
