Years ago I drove 18wheelers from Ohio to Texas. We were laid over for a few weeks in Laredo. the motel manager invited me to dinner. he cooked a beef brisket on Mesquite wood. No charcoal, no gas grill, just straight mesquite. If you've ever been to Texas, you can see mesquite growing along the road and as far as the horizon. Man, that was the BEST dinner i've had in a long time. What amazes me is what mesquite costs to buy a small bag of the stuff in Ohio and in Texas...it grows wild.
