Does anyone know where to find Oak in Orlando?? I live near Davenport and I am having a hard time finding some. I grew up using Red Oak in Santa Maria..Be willing to use white oak if I can find it..Also having a hard time finding Tri-tip...any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Chris, go on ebay for the wood. Type in "wood for smoking" and you should see the results pop up. also try www.hawgeyesbbq.com. also www.thehomechef.net. As far as the Tri-tip goes.....I've only seen it in Publix here in town..Ask the butcher, he may special order it for ya! Keith
Go to a firewood dealer. They will usually set the wood out in separate piles. That is usually the best place, and the cheapest. Take along a tote sack, and pick up the small pieces for soaking and smoking. Butcher for the tri-tip, hard to find, but a good cut of meat.

... you might check some other names for Tri-Tip. I've found these few online.

triangular or triangle roast,

bottom sirloin butt,

corner cut,

knuckle cap.
