The seventh annual Texas Steak Cookoff is just around the corner. Saturday, May 15th, rain or shine, cooks, vendors, and tourists from around the state will make their way to historic downtown Hico, Texas. Hico is just 90 minutes southwest of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and approximately 2 hours north of Austin on scenic US 281.

The Texas Steak Cookoff is the largest steak cookoff in the Southwestern U.S. The event draws hundreds of tourists from all over the United States. The cookoff is a competition for the best tasting 12 ounce Texas rib-eye steak. Attendees and participants enjoy good food, shopping, live entertainment, and wine tasting. The profits brought in from the cookoff go to worthy area charities.

This years cookoff will feature two top competitions: The Celebrity Chef Category and “Backyard Chefs” competing for cash and prizes and the title of the “Best Rib Eye Steak Cook in Texas!”
